Former Olympian and stylish Rewa midfielder Tevita Waranaivalu is relishing his selection in the Vodafone Senior Men’s team for their international friendly against Indonesia and is eager to give his best.
The 22-year-old Naisaumua native from Tailevu has been in fine form for the Delta Tigers this season and was a consistent performer in their Fiji FACT and Battle Of Giants victories.
His good form and determination caught the attention of the national coaching panel and a good effort in the training camp in Ba last week saw him book a trip to Indonesia.
“First of all I would like to thank the Almighty for the power and His will to be selected in the national team.”
“I have been out for some time but I was not discouraged, went back to my club to keep on training and I now I made it to the senior team,” he said.
Waranivalu said he is ready to prove his worth if given a chance this Saturday.
“We had a good training session in a new environment; everything is new for us over here.”
“If I get a chance to play on Saturday, I will prove to the coach and everyone back home, and make our country proud.”
Meanwhile top striker Setareki Hughes is also aiming to give his best.
The 2016 Footballer of the Year says adapting to the conditions and the new environment is something the team is working on at the moment and he is excited to play on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday and if given a chance to play, I will surely give in my best and prove myself,” he said.
The Indonesia vs Fiji international friendly will kick off in Jakarta at 9pm (Fiji Time).
