Sydney Lautoka wins AFFA IDC

Sydney Lautoka was crowned the 2017 Australian Fiji Football Association (AFFA) Inter District Champion after beating Sydney Nadi 2-1 in the final at Ireland Park yesterday.

The Betsy Ali captained side entered the final as underdogs against a star studded Nadi outfit which boasted the likes of Esala Ali, Garish Prasad and goalkeeper Jone Ralulu.

Lautoka scored first in the final through Rohit Mani in the 40th minute but a beautiful finish by Ali leveled scores in the 49th minute.

Former Nadi midfielder Pritesh Ram netted the winner for the Blues in the 58th minute.

Earlier in the semifinals, Nadi defeated Dreketi 2-0 while Lautoka outclassed Labasa 3-1.

Lautoka walked away $1000 richer while Nadi received $500 for reaching the final.

Former national rep Anand Sami coached Lautoka in the tournament.
