14 teams for inaugural Sanatan BOG

A total of 14 teams will be competing in the first ever Sanatan Battle Of Giants (BOG) tournament in Ba next month.

Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha sports wing Acting President Dhirendra Nand said the tournament which will also have a veterans’ grade and netball competition for their women members has been organised to further develop interest in sports and wellness.

Speaking to FijiLive, Mr Nand said through sports they will raise more awareness about health issues and by actively participating, their members will be able to stay in good shape and combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

“We are working on further strengthening our networks and support system. This tournament will surely bring our people together and we will also empower our women members by having a netball competition.”

“After the successful hosting of our IDC earlier this year, the executives met and decided that we should have another event before the year end, thus the idea of having a BOG was mooted and we have received great support from all affiliated member districts,” he said.

The pools of the tournament were drawn at Nadi Sangam Primary School on Sunday following the Managers meeting.

Navua is the top seed in open category while Makoi is the top seed in Veterans’ category.

Netball pool draws will take place on December 01 at Xavier College, Ba.
