Fiji makes shaky start in Oceania 7s

Defending champion Fiji made a shaky start in the 2017 Oceania Rugby 7s Championship in Suva today and registered a 35-0 win over New Caledonia.

The hosts made a strong start and led 28-0 at halftime with forward Paula Dranisinukula, Waisea Nacuqu (2) and Captain Jerry Tuwai crossing over the tryline.

The Fijians made a lot of handling errors in the second half and missed at least four scoring chances before Tuwai raced in to score their fifth try of the match.

The Fiji Airways Men’s team will take on American Samoa in their next match at 7.40pm.

Meanwhile Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Papua New Guinea also made winning starts.
