Fiji thrashes Cooks, meets Samoa in semis

Defending champion Fiji thrashed American Samoa 57-0 in its quarterfinal clash of the 2017 Oceania 7s in Suva today and will meet Samoa in the semifinal.

The Fijians were ruthless from the start and led 31-0 at halftime with Waisea Nacuqu (2), Vatemo Ravouvou, Kalione Nasoko and Paula Dranisinukula crossing over for tries.

Josua Vakurinabili (2), Samu Bale and Alekesio Vakarorogo scored tries in the second half.

Australia and New Zealand will meet in the first semifinal at 3pm while Fiji and Samoa will clash at 3.20pm.

Australia narrowly defeated Papua New Guinea 22-21, New Zealand thrashed American Samoa 58-0 while Samoa walloped Tonga 45-0 in the quarterfinals.
