Rewa beats Dreketi, plays waiting game

Defending champion Rewa registered a hard fought 3-2 win over Dreketi in their final Group A match of the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants (BOG) at Churchill Park today and remains in the hunt for a semifinal spot.

Iosefo Verevou netted the opener for Rewa in the 40th minute of play.

Sairusi Nalaubu doubled their advantage with a tap-in in the 52nd minute.

Taione Kerevanua extended Rewa’s lead from the penalty spot in the 64th minute and Dreketi scored two late goals through strikers Joseva Bolakivei and Shamal Lal to end the match with a respectable score-line.

Dreketi ended the match with only ten players after veteran Usaia Tadu was sent off following his second booking middway in second half.

The result gives the Delta Tigers six points on the table and they will now have to hope that Suva does not win their match against Nadi later today as a win or a draw for the Jetsetters will favor them.

As it stands, Nadi leads the group with 6 points and a goal difference of +6 while Rewa is in second place with 6 points and a goal difference of 0.

Suva has 3 points and a goal difference of +5.

The Suva vs Nadi match kicks off at 3pm.
