Zahid stars as Ba remains on course

Stylish striker Abbu Zahid scored four goals in the second half as Ba thumped neighbors Tavua 4-0 to further consolidate its status as one of the favorites to win the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants (BOG).

After beating Labasa 2-0 yesterday, the Men In Black entered the match as favorites despite losing goalkeeper Josaia Ratu to an injury just before the kick-off.

After a scrappy first half which was dominated by missed chances and poor finishing from both sides, Ba found its rhythm in the second spell with Zahid floating in the opener from the left hand edge of the box in the 57th minute.

He again struck in the 75th minute as a defensive blunder saw Saula Waqa steal the ball and lay it into Zahid’s path.

The former national striker completed his scoring rout with two more strikes in the 84th and 85th minute of play.

Ba now has 6 points from two matches and sits in the driver’s seat for a semifinal spot from Group B.

The Ronil Kumar coached side plays host Lautoka in its final group match at 5pm tomorrow while Tavua who are technically out of the tournament after two straight losses will face Labasa at 1pm tomorrow.
