Brothers want to win BOG for mum, granny

Brothers Sanaila Waqanicakau and Balbir Singh Jnr are aiming to give their best and help Ba win its 19th Battle of the Giants tournament in Lautoka this weekend.

The siblings featured strongly in Ba’s group matches and are looking to continue their fine performance.

They want to win the tournament for their mother and grandmother.

“It is important that we do well in the semifinal and we brothers are ready to give our best for Ba.”

“We want to win for our grandmother and mother who have been our biggest inspiration and motivation.”

“Our mum Inise Naituva and grandmother Sereana Waqanicakau have raised the three of us with the support of our uncle and former Ba rep Saula Waqanicakau who now resides in Australia and we want to make them happy by winning this tournament.”

Waqanicakau, 30, started all the games and also scored a goal against Nasinu while Singh, 21, came off the bench in all group matches.

Their other sibling, Saula Waqa also delivered a good performance against Nasinu and scored a goal before failing the drug test and getting suspended.

“Sadly Saula is out but I and Junior are ready. This is his first tournament and he is excited to play his first semifinal.”

“We have a very young team but the boys gave their best in the group matches and we hope to continue with our good performance.”

The former Fiji U20 striker who has also represented Rewa and Dreketi in the past said representing his home district is special and he is urging fans to continue supporting them.

“Our coach and officials have worked hard to prepare this young team and the boys are fit and determined to make an impact.”

The Priceline Pharmacy sponsored- Ba will meet Delta Auto One Repairs sponsored- Rewa in the first semifinal at 2pm on Saturday at Churchill Park.
