Swamy gracious in semifinal defeat

Nadi Coach Kamal Swamy graciously accepted their 2-1 extra time defeat to Suva in the second semifinal of the 2020 Punjas Battle of the Giants on Saturday and said he was proud of his brigade.

Swamy said they played well despite losing top goalkeeper Vereti Dickson and Napolioni Qasevakatini to injuries.

"We played well but it was just not our day today. We scored first and were leading with only five minutes remaining."

"We allowed Suva to come and level scores and in the extra time, we lost our concentration and focus and allowed another goal."

"It was a good match for us. Suva was the better team today and they won. We will head back to the drawing board and see how best we can prepare for our remaining VPL matches and the IDC in October."

Rusiate Matarerega had put the Jetsetters up in the 58th minute before Suva Captain Ravinesh Karan Singh leveled scores in the 85th minute and Sairusi Nalaubu sealed victory for the Whites in the 9th minute of the first spell of extra spell.
