We were lucky to win semifinal: Rodu

Rewa Coach Marika Rodu says they were lucky to beat Ba 8-7 in penalties in the first semifinal of the 2020 Punjas Battle of the Giants at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.

An emotional Rodu said it was a tough win and praised Ba's young brigade for giving them a good match.

"I give all the glory to the Almighty. It was anybody's game when it went to penalties."

"We made a good start but the injury to Sela made us adjust the team a bit. It was really unfortunate that he got injured and now he is out."

"Ba came out strongly in the second half and we expected them to be tough as they play till the final whistle. I also salute their young goalkeeper who played brilliantly in the match."

Rodu said they will have to lift their game in the final.

"Yes there were many mistakes in the last quarter of the match and we have to look at all that and prepare better for the final."
