Labasa registers first DPL win

Labasa registered its first win of the Digicel Premier League today after beating Nadroga 1-0 at Subrail Park.

The Babasiga Lions attacked well in the first spell but were denied by the brilliance of Nadroga goalie Sakeo Taganeca on four clear occasions while the visitors with Osea Vakatalesau upfront also threatened  with some good counter-attacking moves.

Young midfielder Melvin Mani slammed the winner for the hosts in the 47th minute after a good passage of play by Labasa.

Nadroga did not give up after the goal and attacked relentlessly but were unlucky as Labasa defenders cleared the ball off their line on three occasions.

Replacement Ilisoni Loloivalu had the chance to double Labasa's lead in the 75th minute but his attempt went well and truly over the cross-bar.

Labasa now has 6 points after four appearances while Moshin's Insulation Nadroga has 2 points from four games.
