We can defend our title: Rasaku

New Tabadamu winger Kaminieli Rasaku is confident the defending champions will be able to defend their title in the 45th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s which is currently underway at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The Fiji 7s squad member who scored a brace of tries in their opening match against Lami Cavaliers which they convincingly won 36-0 this morning told FijiLive they have prepared well and the positive start has boosted their confidence.

“I'm really happy to play for Tabadamu and I believe in the team and the boys. We have got capable players in the team and their capability was seen in the first match where we played very well against the Cavaliers.”

“We can do it again because we prepared just for few days after the super 7s which was a disappointment for the side but we are here to improve on what we couldn't do last week in Savusavu.”

“We needed a good start to our defence campaign and the players have delivered that. Now we will go game by game and every match will be no less than a final.”

Rasaku said the side needs to work on ball handling and scrums to reach the final.

“Some areas that still need to be worked on are our ball handling skills and scrums. We cannot afford to lose the ball forward and we also have to ensure we win the ball from the scrums and also force turnovers so we have more possession and the chance to score points.”

“We have to be careful and talk to players on the field which we did in the first game and this should continue. We will meet tough teams but then it's up to us how we take each game and the way we play as a team.”

CK Ezy Buy Tabadamu’s other tries came from Kavekini Tabu, Daniele Cakaunivalu and Tobia Matavua.
