Drug test to continue in Skipper Cup

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive John O’Connor has confirmed that drug tests will continue in the Skipper Cup and Innk Farebrother Challenge this season.

O’Connor said they want to eradicate drugs out of the sport and for that reason drug tests are necessary.

“We will continue with the drug test since it’s a requirement by world rugby and the regulations. World rugby requires an accredited drug testing agent which in Fiji is only one. We have been working with them last year and we will work with them again as the drug testing continues.”

“It’s for the benefit of the players and also the teams because the senior players should lead by examples and not indulge into something that will tarnish their reputation and rugby career.”

Nadi and Rewa will clash in a Skipper Cup/Farebrother Challenge double header at Prince Charles Park at 3pm while Tailevu will host Namosi and Northland will play Naitasiri around the same time.

Defending champion Suva will take on Nadroga at the ANZ Stadium at 6pm.
