FRU seeks sponsorship for Womenís comp

The Fiji Rugby Union has put the Skipper Women’s competition on hold as it is currently seeking sponsorship and is negotiating with relevant parties.

FRU chief executive John O’Connor said the women’s competition is a separate competition from the men’s competition thus they are looking for some new sponsors for the competition this year.

“Yes, the women’s competition is separate and people should understand that. We have been talking to some people and are negotiating some deals and when the deal is sealed then the women’s competition will run smoothly.”

“The women’s teams have been advised on the situation now and their competition will start later probably after we get things sorted out.”

O’Connor also mentioned that defending Skipper Women’s champions Lautoka Women’s and Yasawa women will also feature in the competition this year.

He said that Lautoka and Yasawa were amongst the top eight teams and they will remain in the competition.
