Highlanders secure first win in 2021

An indisciplined Naitasiri side secured its first Skipper Provincial Cup win after thumping  Northland 32-10 at Gatward Park in Korovou today.

The Highlanders were left to play with 14 men early in the match when flyhalf Etonia Rokotuisawa scooped a red card due to a dangerous tackle.

Yet, Naitaisiri made sure they leave no opportunity behind and scored three converted tries in the first spell through their powerhouse Viliame Matai, Sireli Kaloucava, and Maciu Vakacabeqoli while Kini Douglas converted the three tries and lead by 21-0 at the break.

Minutes into the second half and Naitasiri continued to throw stones against Northland with Douglas kicking two successful penalties giving them a 27-0 lead.

Coming off the bench, it was flanker Sakiusa Baseisei who brought the hopes of Northland alive with a try but conversion missed.

Naitasiri maintained their pressure and Douglas scored a try but Rokotuisawa missed the conversion.

Northland tried hard and grabbed another try from inside centre Josefa Rokovatu but the conversion missed giving them 10 points.
