Namosi registers first Skipper Cup win

Namosi registered its first Skipper Provincial Cup win, beating Tailevu 19-13 at Nakelo District School in Tailevu today.

Winger Viliame Kanatabua scored the opening try for and fullback Maika Baleinaloto converted for a 7-0 lead.

Namosi hooker Seru Cakobau scored the first try for the side and flyhalf Joseva Vunisa’s conversion brought a 7-all tie however Cakobau received a yellow card.  

Tailevu took advantage of the 14 men and a successful penalty from Baleinaloto got them a 10-7 lead.

Tussling hard, both teams got equal opportunities but outside centre Meli Nakarawa broke through the Tailevu defence scoring the second try for Namosi, conversion missed but led by 12-10 at half time.

Minutes into the second spell, Tailevu received a penalty which was successfully taken by Baleinaloto for a 13-12 lead.

Namosi played till the final minute and Eparama Luvata stole the show with the last try and Netava Koroisau’s conversion sealed the win.
