Qereqere stars in Nadroga's first win

Winger Panapasa Qereqere scored a brace as Nadroga snatched a 25-17 win against defending champions Suva in the first round of the Skipper Provincial Cup at the ANZ Stadium in Suva today.

Suva took the early lead with Enele Malele kicking a penalty in the 9th minute of the match and led by 3-0.

Nadroga received a penalty which Peni Kadralevu missed.
 
Nadroga ran riot with Tevita Sonowale and Kadralevu scoring two back-to-back tries in the 24th and 26th minute but Sonowale converted once giving them a 12-3 buffer.

Minutes later, the visitors fell to 14 men when Mesake Tuinamena scooped a yellow card for ill-discipline behavior.

The hosts took advantage through Savenaca Uluibau scoring the first try for Suva while Malele converted for 10 points.

Nadroga was given another penalty and was successfully converted by Sonowale, extending the lead to 15-10 at the breather.

The capital city side came out firing in the second spell with Elia Canakaivata scoring the second try for Suva and Malele converted for a 17-15 lead.

Poor ball handling by Nadroga was prevalent on the field and they gave away too many chances to Suva.

The Sakaraia Labalaba coached Suva side fell to 14 men when Vatiliai Dulaki was sin-binned, the Stallions were given a penalty kick but was missed by Sonowale.

The Esala Nauqa coached Nadroga fell to 14 men again when Timoci Sauvoli copped a yellow card.

The battle between the two sides heated up in the final 10 minutes of the match, Suva again fell to 14 men when Meli Tuni received a yellow card got dangerous play, Nadroga received a penalty but was missed by Simelo Naoba.
