Mateisuva aims to maintain good form

Labasa Captain and goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva is aiming to maintain his good form in the Digicel Premier League.

The 29-year-old Police officer is yet to concede a goal in the competition after six matches and wants to keep a clean sheet.

"Yes, it's good to be in good form and keep a clean record of not having any goals scored against you. But it's not all about me as I do not play alone, we play as a team and I have ten other brothers in front of me who work equally hard to guard and keep our goalmouth protected."

"Our aim this season is to do well and finish in top two in the League. We have not done well in the past years and the League title is something that is evading us for a while now."

Mateisuva said the team has proved critics wrong so far this season under new coach Ravneel Pratap.

"We have a new coach and some new players too but the team spirit and hard work is there. Some players joined us from Nasinu and they have all blended in well. We play as a team and care for each other. I guess the special team bonding and unity is keeping us unbeaten in the League so far and we hope to maintain this," he added.

Labasa currently sits in third place with 10 points after two wins and four draws.

The Babasiga Lions will play leaders Lautoka in Round 7 when sporting activities recommence in the country.
