Players are coping well, says Lal

Nadi Coach Shalen Lal says players are coping well during this pandemic and are focusing on their next match against Rewa in Round 7 of the Digicel Premier League.

Lal said he has been in contact with players and is trying to keep them focused and motivated.

“The pandemic has been hard on everyone and we understand that movement is not allowed but the players are doing their personal training at home. They are putting in their best effort and are focused on the match against Rewa.”

“The boys are aware of some of the key areas that need improvement like our finishing and our defense which we have to be very strong at. We know Rewa will also come prepared but we want to assure our fans that we will put up a positive result.”

The Jetsetters are sitting in fourth spot with 9 points after 2 wins, 3 draws and a loss but Lal says they have been working on their weaknesses.

“It’s soccer and mistakes are bound to happen but it’s good that players are able to see those mistakes and are working on it. These past games have been a lesson to us and the mistakes have also been putting us down.”

“I believe there is room for improvement and then players know what they need to do. They have been given enough time to relax their body and build their fitness. We have also requested them to utilise their time with their families and also continue with their personal training at home.”

The Nadi vs Rewa match will take place once the sporting activities resume in the country.
