Taroga misses family, stays positive

Solomon Islands national midfielder Patrick Taroga who is currently studying and playing in Fiji celebrated his 21st birthday today without his loved ones due to the current restrictions in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The Fiji National University (FNU) student who is studying Quantity Surveying said he is doing all he can to remain positive during this lockdown but misses his family back in the Solomons alot.

"I cannot just wait for this pandemic to be over so I can fly back home and reunite with my family. It's tough to be away from home for so long."

"I have been here from last year and have experienced both waves of COVID-19 and just try to keep myself safe and occupied."

"I am doing my studies and assignments online and take out time in the afternoons to do my personal training and I keep myself fit mentally and physically."

"Last year I played for Suva and now I am with Navua. I have not played many games due to my study commitments but I hope to manage between football and studies and play more games this year."

Taroga represented the Solomon Islands U17, U20 and U23 teams and also played for the national team in the last Pacific Games in 2019.

He has also played for the Henderson Eels in the OFC Champions League.
