Blake, Sivo score in Eels win

Fijian centre Waqa Blake and winger Mika Sivo scored a try each for the Parramatta Eels as they thumped the Wests Tigers 40-12 in Round 14 of NRL yesterday.

Clinton Gutherson and Joey Lussick shed the first blood for the Eels with two early tries while Mitchell Moses converted both and also kicked a penalty.

It was Jacob Liddle sliding under the posts at the other end for a try to the Tigers and Adam Doueihi converted.

The Eels led 14-6 at halftime.

Early in the second stanza, Daine Laurie spilled the ball straight into the arms of Waqa Blake and he scored a try for the Eels and Moses again converted.

One-time Tigers junior Moses twisted the knife against his old side once more with a hand and pulled a try and also converted.

Minutes later, Sivo ensured he grabbed the ball as fast as he could and scored a try while Moses converted, extending the Eels lead.

Sivo was sent to the sin-bin few minutes after due to a high shot that concussed Adam Doueihi out of the game.

The Tigers took advantage through James Roberts, who helped himself to a consolation try before while exhausted Luke Brooks converted for 12 points.

But the Eels were too strong and Gutherson scored his second try and Moses converted and added another penalty to seal the win.
