Players are fit and determined: Baber

Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber says his 18 men squad is fit and healthy and they have commenced training in their bubble in Brisbane.

While acknowledging the Australian government for allowing the team to train and participate in the Oceania 7s in Townsville later this month, Baber said the players have managed to adjust to the facilities provided for their training.

“The facility that we are in has been provided by the Australia Government. We have a half pitch to train on and a gym and a meeting room.”

Baber also mentioned the new training facility has given him the opportunity to approach the challenges in a different way.

“So the flow of what we do is very similar and we had to adjust some of our training because of the size of the rugby pitch that we are upgrading on.”

“But that’s good for us as a good challenge and gets us to think differently as coaches. We get the players to respect and understand what they have had back in Fiji been able to train on the ANZ Stadium and we are back into our training fully now.”

“With gym and access to pitch and obviously the strategic work that we do around the game as well and everybody is fit and healthy all the 18 that are here,” he added.

The PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevens will be held from the 25-27 of this month.
