The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) assisted the Northland Tailevu men and women footballers through food pack distribution yesterday evening.
Fiji FA started assisting the senior division footballers, last month, affected by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Team player Ryan Chand thanked Fiji FA for its generosity.
“Fiji FA has never failed on its social obligations and on behalf of the players, I would like to thank president Rajesh Patel and the entire football body for thinking about the players from the senior division as well who are going through a lot of tough times during this pandemic.”
The Bhawani Dayal Arya College student said it was a timely assistance.
“We are five in the family and my dad is a taxi driver and his income has been heavily affected and this assistance from Fiji FA will bring some relief for my parents as this will last for more than a month,” said Chand.
Northland Tailevu senior women’s rep Terevini Waqa said she did not expect this huge assistance from Fiji FA.
“I didn’t expect but this is a boost for my family as we all are going through difficult times as my parents are currently without a job.”
The players who are outside the border will receive their rations today at the Logani border.
