Fiji FA open doors for overseas players

The Fiji Football Association has opened its doors to welcome Fijian based players playing in overseas clubs.

National team captain Roy Krishna and Canada based Nicholas Prasad are the two players which the association has pointed out.

Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said as Fiji is getting closer to the World Cup Qualifiers and the overseas based locals will bring in more experience in the country.

He said the players' experience will boost the teams and also provide a positive impact on players.

“We are trying to get our players from overseas and in the meantime we are in discussion with them. Of Course our captain Roy Krishna will be a boost for the players but we are also considering bringing in more experienced players.”

“The timeframe to qualify is less and we have to build a strong team. We also want to try and have the national camp this month so that we bring in the players and train them. There is a lot of work that needs to be done but the pandemic is not allowing our plans to go ahead.”

“We are still in talks with the Fiji Sports Council in trying to resume the Digicel Premier League. Given the approval by the relevant authorities we want to resume the premier league next month,” Yusuf added.
