Lions to miss key players this weekend

Undefeated Babasiga Lions will miss the service of their key players in the clash against Lautoka and Navua in the Digicel Premier League this weekend.

Labasa football Head Coach Ravneel Pratap has confirmed that  Ashnil Raju will miss the game due to a red card while Melvin Mani, Edwin Sahayam, Akeimi Ralulu and Lekima Gonerau are injured.

Pratap said injuries in the team have got him worried ahead of the two games.

"For any team it will be a worry and it’s a worry for me because we will not have them when we have back to back games in two days."

"Those players have been very active in the team and it's really concerning to see them out this week when we will really need their service."

"But injuries are bound to happen since it's football. We do have other players in the team and we are pushing them to do better and give us a good result."

"Both the teams can be tough on us because we are the only team undefeated so the pressure will be on us."

He also added the team is currently working on their defending and finishing which will be important in the two games.

"Our defense and finishing has been a concern also."

"We have not been able to defend well and that was something we saw against Rewa and Nadroga."

"The players in the backline will need to be fast and also communicate amongst each other so that we are able to avoid goals."

"We need to score and because our finishing is not to the level we wanted, we are not scoring the crucial opportunities we get."

Labasa will take on Viti Water Flow Lautoka at 3pm on Saturday before they meet Navua the next Day at 3pm.
