Lumelume or Moceidreke to lead Bati

Fiji Bati Head Coach Josaia Rabele believes that Melbourne Storm centre Rusiate Isaac Lumelume or Saint George Illawarra Dragons fullback Sitiveni Moceidreke could captain Fiji at next year’s Rugby League World Cup.

This is after Kevin Naiqama announced that he would most likely retire in the next season.

Rabele said Naiqama’s retirement is a big blow for them but they will have to find a new captain.

He told FijiLive that the duo have the ability to take up the position and he has seen their impressive performance in the National Rugby League.

“We will have to find a captain for Fiji Bati as we go into the World Cup.”

“A captain is most vital in the team because they lay out plans to the players on the field during a match. They are the leaders and we need a leader in place of Kevin.”

“From my experience, I feel that Isaac and Sitiveni have the captaincy ability in them. They are the two most fit players to take up the role.”

“We have seen the two play and how the way they performed tells us about their attitude within a team,” Rabele said.

Rabele also mentioned the local Fiji Bati squad will march into camp early next year as they plan to build up for the Rugby League World Cup which is scheduled for next September.
