Suva thumps Nadi, moves to second spot

Defending champion Suva has climbed to the second spot in the Digicel Premier League after thumping Nadi 4-0 in their Round 11 fixture at the ANZ Stadium today.

The Whites fielded their strongest lineup of the season and went up in the 12th minute via a Shahil Dave penalty after Mohammed Ramzan Khan was brought down inside the Nadi box by Ashneel Kumar.

Khan doubled Suva's lead in the 25th minute with a clinical finish after tapping in a Christopher Wasasala through pass.

Nadi pulled out Christopher Kumar and sent in youngster Ishaan Kumar to stabilise midfield play.

Replacement midfielder Iosefo Verevou scored Suva's third goal in the 82nd minute while Sakaraia Naisua was denied a golden scoring chance on the other end by goalkeeper Jovilisi Borisi.

Ni-Vanuatu striker Azariah Soromon went off the bench and scored Suva's fourth and final goal just before the fulltime whistle.

Soromon found the net through an overhead kick, and his goal would certainly be counted amongst the best of the season.
