Valentine stars for Nadi Futsal

William Valentine scored a hat-trick of goals to help Nadi thump neighbours Lautoka 5-0 in their Group B opener of the 2021 Digicel Futsal Inter District Championship (IDC) at the Vodafone Arena in Suva tonight.

The Jetsetters started with the underdogs tag as Lautoka fielded former Solomon Islands Futsal rep Wilson Doedoke, veteran Taniela Waqa and Zibraaz Sahib in its starting lineup.

Surjason Sami opened Nadi's account early in the match and a good strike by Valentine gave them a 2-0 halftime lead.

Valentine followed with two more goals in the second half, the first, tapping in a well set-up pass by Captain Mohammed Shalmeen and then sending in a powerhouse shot which gave the goalkeeper no chance at all.

Sami followed with the fifth and final goal of the night just before the final whistle.

Nadi will face Tailevu Naitasiri in their second pool match at 6.15pm tomorrow.
