Ba down 10-man Blues, moves to 2nd spot

Ba has defeated Lautoka 2-1 and climbs to second spot on the Digicel Premier League points tables after their fixture at Churchill Park in Lautoka tonight.

The Blues ended the tightly contested match with 10 players.

Both teams started the match on a high note with Ba eagerly looking for a win while the hosts were reduced to 10-men when defender Antonio Tuivuna was awarded a direct red card for a dangerous play which resulted in Ba being awarded a direct free kick.

Former Olympian Praneel Naidu broke the deadlock with a powerful shot which went past young Lautoka goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua for a 1-nil lead.

After a quick counter-attack, midfielder Nabil Begg with a beautiful left footy extended Ba's lead to 2-nil at half time.

Lautoka came in firing in the second spell but Ba kept spoiling their plans however, in the final few minutes of the match, it was star striker Sairusi Nalaubu who scored a comeback goal for the side.

Meanwhile, Lautoka will meet Rewa in their next match at 3pm at Churchill Park on Sunday.
