Former Rewa rep Goundar dies

Former Rewa midfielder Raj Goundar has passed away at the age of 54.

He died at his residence in Lakena, Nausori this morning.

Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel said Goundar was a great contributor to the sport.

Patel said they hadve lost a great mentor.

“It’s a huge loss, he had been a great mentor and an inspirational leader of his time,” Patel said.

“He was a very passionate footballer and always supported the development of football in the country."

Goundar joined Fiji Football Association in 2020 as a development officer.

He continued to guide youths in coaching the Delta Tigers Under 19 team and this year coach of the Tailevu Naitasiri youth team.

“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rests in peace," Patel added.
