The Rewa football team is fully aware of the importance of beating Lautoka in round 9 of the Digicel Premier League this week.
According to Coach Roderick Singh, the delta tigers suffered defeats against Lautoka last season and it pulled them down in the league standing which still haunts them.
"We have to pick up points," Singh said.
"We have to keep a really close tab and can’t afford to lose points."
"The league race has begun with Suva ahead of us and Ba is behind us and certainly they will try to catch us up."
"The win against Lautoka is crucial for us because last season they defeated us and we were deprived of winning the league."
"Rewa will avenge their loss and at the same time this game is important for us to earn the three points to get closer to Suva."
Singh also said players have been advised to communicate on the field and make the right decision.
"We want to win against Lautoka and that win can only come if we are linking to each other on the field rather than making irrational decisions."
"Lautoka will come in full form but that does not hinder us from giving our best."
"The young and senior players in our team have a healthy competition with every player vying for a spot this week."
"The young ones are giving a good run to the senior players this week while our defender Kishan Sami continues to miss the games due to a groin injury," he explained.
Rewa will meet Lautoka at 3pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Sunday.
