Disheartened Derenalagi apologises to fans

Disheartened Fijian Drua captain Meli Derenalagi is sorry that he and his team could not deliver a win in front of their home crowd during yesterday's nail biting 24-27 loss to the Highlanders at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Speaking in itaukei, the Nadi chief called on the people of Fiji and all of it's fans to forgive him and the team.

"We know we let you down, and we know we didn't get the result we wanted to give you," Derenalagi told FijiLive.

The Olympic Games gold medalist said despite the loss, they were driven on by the support of Fijians everywhere.

"We could feel the support.

"It drove us on, and lifted our morale tremendously.

"I thank each and everyone of you for sticking behind us and giving the players something to play for."
