FACT D1 performances impress Serritslev

National Coach Flemming Serritslev was pleased with the performance of the eight teams that took the field on the opening day of the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Sunday.

Serritslev was particularly impressed with Tailevu Naitasiri and Labasa's results as the two districts have been struggling in the Digicel Premier League.

"It's just an amazing tournament and I must say I'm pretty surprised with the result of the match between Tailevu and Nasinu and also the last match between Labasa and Rewa."

"I think the two teams that won played really exceptional games. Tailevu was in full force and had the best fitness in them while Labasa had a really good game plan."

"They just went out there and played 90 minute football and made sure they put up an outstanding performance."

"Suva and Nadi were also no less to say. Suva held Ba in the first half and Ba played a more contesting match while Suva kept defending the ball really well. Very impressive, especially in the second half where they were strong with their defense and midfield."

"I think the match between Nadi and Navua was quite intense because Nadi had a very good start but Navua did not lose hope and they responded although a bit late. Nadi sustained the pressure from Navua and punished them till the last minute of the match."

"They were really good with their finishing but I think huge work is needed in their defence because the backline was really weak," he added.

Serritslev also mentioned that he is expecting  some upsets in the second round at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this week.
