Ratucava becomes fourth time lucky

Former national defender Isikeli Ratucava is looking to return to the football pitch after successfully graduating as a Police Constable on Friday.

Speaking to FijiLive, the former Suva, Lami, Rakiraki, Nasinu and Labasa rep who featured for Nadroga earlier this season said  he always dreamt of becoming a Police officer and it wasn’t easy getting recruited.

He revealed that despite failing the recruitment thrice, he kept the hope alive and began a new journey when his name was added in the list in February this year.

“I thank the Almighty Lord for this moment.

"I failed three times but I kept trying. I was sad at first but knew it was not the end of the world."

"My family kept motivating me that I should continue my personal training and just prepare for the new recruitment."

"This year when my name was called I was really happy because I never knew I would get selected."

"I thank my wife and my mum because they are my pillars of strength."

"So when I was in camp I did my best. Turned all the stones and went through all the challenges."

"The training was very stressful but when I see the end result, the challenging moment has surpassed and I’m just happy that I made it till the graduation."

"Football is there but now more focus will be on job. I worked really hard for this as I did for football. Both are important."

"I know sometimes I will have to sacrifice one. But I might have to put more focus on football because that’s what I have worked really hard for that,” he added.
