Rewa held, remains unbeaten in DPL

Rewa blew away the chance to grab the lead in the Digicel Premier League after playing to a goal-less draw against Labasa in their Round 11 clash at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

The unbeaten Delta Tigers needed a win in the fixture to claim the top spot after Suva was humiliated 3-0 by Ba in an earlier match at the same venue.

The return of Captain Setareki Hughes and Tevita Waranaivalu in the starting lineup added depth and flair to the attack but poor finishing was the order of the day.

Labasa marksman Christopher Wasasala threatened on a few occasions but his final attempts were covered well by goalkeeper Mohammed Alam.

Rewa introduced Abbu Zahid and Ivan Kumar in the last quarter of the match to keep the pressure but Labasa's defence led ably by Lekima Gonerau held its own while goalkeeper Atunaisa Naucukidi was also impressive and pulled off some great saves.

Both teams ended the match with 10 players after Rewa's Bruce Hughes and Labasa's Ilisoni Loloivalu were sent off for a scuffle.

Glamada Rewa now has 23 points after 11 appearances and remains second while NZ Fan Club Labasa remains sixth with 12 points.
