Soromon puts champs into final

Ni-Vanuatu striker Azariah Soromon netted a goal in each half to guide champions Suva to a 2-1 win over Lautoka in the second semifinal of the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.

Soromon opened Suva's account in the 2nd minute of play with a powerful volley which hit the right hand corner of the net, giving goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua no chance at all.

Ram's Cleaning Services and All Freights Logistics Suva led 1-0 at the break but some poor defensive play allowed Baker's Fresh Lautoka striker Sairusi Nalaubu to sneak in with the equaliser in the 47th minute.

A foul by youngster Gulam Razool on Meli Codro saw Suva receive a free-kick on the left hand edge of the Lautoka box in the 50th minute and Soromon from an acute angle curled the ball in which was fumbled by the goalkeeper, giving the Whites their second and winning goal.

Replacements Samuela Drudru and Marlon Tahioa had chances to increase Suva's lead but some daring saves by Biuvanua kept the scoreline intact till the final whistle.

Suva will meet 4R Electric Labasa in the grand finale at 3pm tomorrow.
