Ali banks on experience for FANCA

Stylish striker, Mohammed Shazil Ali is banking on the Fiji team’s experience ahead of its campaign at the 2022 FANCA Nations Cup.

The former Lautoka, Ba, Suva and new Nasinu recruit told FijiLive that lack of preparation due to time constraints was an obstacle, but he is confident that the team would come together in time.

“It has been a busy year, and players have been committed to their respective clubs for the League games,” Ali said.

“The team has no lack of experience, but something we are weary about is the amount of time we’ll need to train together before the actual tournament."

The lanky forward said teams from the respective participating countries Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States of America, will be threatening but trusted that Fiji is a strong team to match them.

“We have a lot of seasoned players, and all are ready to come together to play."

“The players have gelled well as a team ahead of the tournament and we have also played a few friendly matches and with that, I’m sure we can put on a good performance as the hosts this year.”

The Digicel/Ram’s Cleaning Services FANCA Nations Cup kicks off next Wednesday at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.
