Nippy Chand ready for IDC

Nippy Northland Tailevu midfielder Rynal Rahil Chand who featured for Fiji Presidents Five in the OFC Futsal Cup last week is aiming to give his best performance in next month's Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) in Suva.
The 18-year-old who made his debut for Northland in 2019 at the age of 15 told FijiLive that the OFC Futsal Cup has kept him in form.
"The Futsal games have been really helpful to me," Chand said.
"I managed to stay in form while representing Fiji and I was able to overcome my challenges."
"I started playing futsal for Northland and later I was asked to join Tailevu Naitasiri."
"I have played IDC before and it's not an easy tournament."
"We started our IDC preparation during the senior league games and from there we overcame our weaknesses."
Northland is drawn in Pool B with Dreketi and Taveuni but the Year 13 student of Bhawani Dayal Arya College is confident that they’ll be able to win the Senior Division IDC.
"We have been drawn in a good pool but I’m ready and excited for the tournament."
"We haven’t played these teams for some time but we’ll just focus on ourselves."
"I think they will give us a good competition because when we were in the senior league, we heard a lot about these teams."
"We always have to prepare for the worst and we kind of know that these teams can be dangerous."
"We just have to make sure that we give our hundred per cent not only in the training but also during the game."
Chand also added the side will need to improve their discipline ahead of the Championship next month.
"We have to work on discipline."
"Our team’s main issue has been discipline and receiving cards."
"We just have to avoid all those things that put our discipline down and then we will do well."
"Sometimes the players get frustrated and that results in cards or sometimes playing with just 10 men."
"We are going into this tournament as a totally different team putting up another level of performance and making sure that we end the tournament on a high note," he added.
The Courts IDC will be played from the 5th to the 10th of October at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
