Good lessons learned, says Lal

Digicel Junior Bula Boys Coach Ronil Lal says the team picked up a lot of learning in Tahiti and will now shift its focus to 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.

Lal after the team’s 3-0 loss to New Zealand in the final of the OFC U19 Championship said his players gave their best performance but some sloppy defenders and moments of lapses in concentration proved costly.

“It’s been a learning experience for us. What we need to do going forward and how we need to improve. So, lots of learning and good takeaways from this championship.”

“We have grown in strength and become stronger. From preparation time to the competition, the bond between the players became stronger and the level of respect, trust and care for each other in the team also grew.”

Lal said the team will now take a much deserved break and they will wait for the parent body, Fiji Football Association to come up with their preparation plans for the World Cup.

Fiji and New Zealand will fly Oceania’s fly in the World Cup next year.
