Ba v Rewa showdown at IDC semis

Ba will face Rewa in the second semifinal of the Women’s Inter District Championship (IDC) after sealing Nadi's fate 4-1 in their pool B clash at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

Ba had already qualified for the semi-final with 6 points while Nadi needed a goal to win the match.

Nadi looked hungrier while they countered Ba from all ends of the field.

Young Farisha Ali and Monika Liku threatened with some good attempts but Ba goalkeeper Mereseini Waqali daringly tapped the ball away.

The women in black remained content and tested the young Nadi goalkeeper Ana Digogo on several occasions through experienced Luisa Tamanitoakua and Koleta Likuculacula.

Ba broke the deadlock through nippy midfielder Elesi Tabunase who followed a beautiful set-up piece from Sereana Naweni in the 34th minute and held it for a 1-nil lead at half-time.

Ba continued to lift its performance in the second stanza and defender Koleta Likuculacula sneaked the second goal giving Nadi goalkeeper Ana Digogo no chance at all before Sisilia Kuladina extended their lead with a powerful shot to increase the lead to 3-nil.

Nadi managed to pull one goal back from a direct free kick by Amelia Yara but Ba maintained its goal-scoring form and got the final say in the match through Narieta Leba in the final few minutes of the match.
