Suva lifts suspension of quartet

Suva football Association President Ritesh Pratap has confirmed the end of suspension of four players for their match against Navua in Round 3 of the Digicel Premier League on Sunday.

Striker Christopher Wasasala, midfielders Filipe Baravilala and Iosefo Verevou together with left-back Kalisito Veikoka were suspended before their first match against Rewa due to discipline issues.

“They were under match suspension which ended last week and had been training with us since this week. We have lifted their suspension and counselled them on their behaviour and attitude towards the team.”

The quartet had been put on a suspended sentence with a fine of $7,000 and $5,000 to the players.

“They are on the suspended sentence which is like a bound over for them for the next three years. Christopher Wasasala and Filipe Baravilala are on suspended sentence for three years and $7,000 fine while Iosefo Verevou Kalisito Veikoka are on suspended sentence for two years and $5,000 fine.”

“If these four players break any rule and regulation of the Suva team then we will suspend them for four years from any level of soccer. We have given them the final chance and if their discipline affects the team then we will take strict action again.”

“This is the lesson for the other players in the squad to avoid any kind of indiscipline that might cause them to lose their position in the team. Most of our players are in the Force and whatever they do here may affect their career and image of the entire team.”

Unique Rubber Stamp Suva hosts Navua at 3pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
