Lutuimawi, Bola star in Silktails win

Apimeleki Lutuimawi and Timoci Bola starred as the Kaiviti Silktails registered a 42-20 win over the Ryde Eastwood Hawks RLFC  in Round 9 of the Ron Massey Cup today.

The Silktails were off the blocks with a little slow allowing their opposition to score first in the 4th minute.

The Fijians settled and found their groove in the 11th minute as elusive wing Timoci Bola broke 60meter out to find his captain in support and effectively drew in the last defender to allow Penioni Tagituimua a free run to the line to break the deadlock and dust off the cobwebs.

Eleven minutes later, Bola found himself over the try line as he dove over in the right corner to register the teams second try of the evening.

Momentum was definitely on the Silktails side as Manasa Kalou, Apimeleki Lutuimawi and Maika Serulevu crossed over in the 27th, 32nd and 36th minute respectively and headed to the sheds with a comprehensive 26-4 lead at half time.

The second half got off to a similar start as the first with Hawks applying pressure and earning rewards for their efforts with the first 4 pointer but Apimeleki Lutuimawi had other ideas and as he snuck over from the base of the ruck to claim his second try of the afternoon.

Apakuki Tavodi crossed the line with 10 minutes to play which elevated the teams confidence to seal this game out.

A scrum set 60m out, with the ball fed at the sound of the buzzer, Silktails put on a classic Fijian flair display to dash down the right flank with some stylish footwork and class offloading to score a beauty of a try right under the sticks claimed by Nadi Eels rep Timoci Bola - a double on record for him as well!

The Silktails players dedicated the win to all the Mothers “We love you and couldn't thank you all enough for being beside us throughout this journey.”
