Overseas based players to earn their spots

Foreign based Fijian players will need to earn their spot in the national football team for the Soccer World Cup Qualifiers, says head coach Flemming Serritslev.

Serritslev said players will need to put in their entire effort in order to attain the Fijian jumper at the qualifiers in Qatar next year.

He said players in the camp will be trained equally and all players will have to give their best.

“Yes, there are Fijian based foreign players who want to be part of the national team but they will also have to give in their best. They will have to earn their spot by showing us what they have got in them to be part of the Fiji team.”

“All players will be treated fairly during the camp training and we want to see the best from the players. Best soccer and fitness is what we always are eager but there are other soccer skills that we also want to see.”

“We will be playing against tough teams in the world and to counter them we need strong players who understand their roles and responsibilities well. The national camp is a really good way to build the players up while we also hoped football would resume soon,” he added.
