Birthday boys eager for Ba clash

Suva birthday boys Shahil Dave and Stylish Striker Mohammed Shazil Ali are eager for the clash against Ba upon the resumption of the Digicel Premier League.

Dave, who turned 29, has eyed back to back league title wins with Suva.

The Nippy Midfielder scored his first goal of the season in their 1-nil win over Navua in round three of DPL in March.

“I am focused on my training and I want to give my hundred percent for the match against Ba. So far I have scored only one goal and I feel that’s not enough for me. I want to score more goals and also help Suva retain the title.”

“I have felt the joy of winning the league title and I want to feel that joy again. The pandemic has been very harsh on our training and being a Police Officer I have had a lot on my plate.”

“My first goal has personally encouraged me that I can do better. It has motivated me to overcome my weaknesses and maintain my goal scoring spirit,” he added.

Dave also mentioned that he would celebrate his special day with his one year and three month-old daughter Inaya Dave.

Ali, who turned 26 today, is determined for a spot in the starting line-up and is itching to score against his former team.

He had to leave the field in the first round of the competition against Rewa after picking up a knee injury.

“I have recovered well and I want to bounce back in the match against Ba. I have been training hard during the six months break and have shaped up my form. My fitness has also improved and I want to score against Ba.”

“I know a lot will be expected but I have taken that match as a challenge and will give my very best. I have been working on my speed and also learning new tricks and skills on goal scoring.”

“Winning the league will be a big win for my father who is a farmer. I have seen him struggle and I want to win this league for him. He has asked me to score and also help Suva retain the title this year,” Ali explained.

Ali mentioned that he misses his parents and siblings on his birthday as they could not make it to Suva due to the Sugarcane cutting season.

However, he would celebrate his special day with his aunty and uncle in Suva.

Unique Rubber Stamp Suva will host Online IT Solutions/Priceline Pharmacy Ba at the ANZ Stadium in Suva at 3pm on the 24th of October.
