Fiji Rugby Union chief executive John O’Connor says the Fiji 7s men’s and Fijiana 7s are in the safe hands of coach Saiasi Fuli. O’Connor said he has entrusted Fuli with a tough job and he is being assisted by two other FRU staff alongside Jerry Tuwai. O’Connor said Fuli is well aware of his duty and has been given a tough job following after he coached the Fijiana 7s to bronze in August. “The two teams are in the safe hands of Fuli.” “We have trusted him and we believe in him.” “He has been training the girls and we know he can also train the men’s team also. It’s going to be tough but he has taken the challenge while we look out for a new Fiji 7s men’s coach.” “This is a journey which we know Fuli never expected off but his vast experience on the rugby field as a 7s player and coach is a lot.” “We know his knowledge, strength; lessons will guide both the men’s and women’s team in the right direction.” “As a qualified coach he knows what to do and the areas that need work on. Again it’s going to be tough for Fuli but we believe he will deliver his best as he has done,” O’Connor added. Meanwhile, the FRU has advertised the vacant post of Fiji 7s men’s head coach while they aim to get in a coach ahead of the new HSBC sevens series which starts next month. By Romeka Romena |
