Womenís football team impress Jankowski

Fiji Football Association Technical Director Timo Jankowski is impressed with players' spirit in the Digicel National Women’s football team.

The 28-member extended squad marched into camp on Sunday afternoon at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa.

Jankowski, is currently coaching the team after the departure of Marika Rodu and believes early preparation is necessary ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers to be staged in Qatar in July next year.

“I am very positive as I have seen the spirit in the players. They have shown team spirit which is overwhelming,” Jankowski told Fiji FA media.

“They have positive energy and they were too good during the first session today (Monday).

“I am very positively surprised after seeing the first day of training with a passion they have for football.”

“We had some competition games with shooting and I could see they really wanted to win. They love scoring goals and like to get better,” Jankowski added.

He mentioned there is still huge work needed on player fitness.
