Young guns bring in competition: Ikanikoda

Fiji 7s utility back Livai Ikanikoda believes the inclusion of new players in the extended squad for the World Sevens Series will bring more competition and challenge experienced players to lift their game.

The 31-year-old Police officer who narrowly missed out on selection for the Olympics said the youngsters are gelling in well and are showing a lot of promise.

"These new players bring great intelligence and vibrancy to the team and they are adjusting and adapting very well."

“It’s been a while since the players returned to training. The boys came in after lockdown and engaged with the program. The new boys are gelled up really well in the training team.”

“It’s been tough for us and the new boys also but we have welcomed them. They have come at a short time, especially after lockdown.”

“It will be a tough competition because they have played good games in the series. It’s a tough time for us to choose our position in Dubai 7s next month.”
