Fijiana qualifies for final

Fijiana topped Pool B of the Dubai 7s tonight after beating France 17-12 and will face Australia in the final for the second consecutive week at the Sevens Stadium.

Camille Grassineau’s try gave France the lead in the 7th minute but a good breakdown by the Fijians saw winger Aloesi Nakoci sprint away to score and a successful conversion by Lavena Cavuru gave them a 7-5 halftime lead.

Nakoci scored Fiji’s second try after the break and playmaker Reapi Uluinasau through her individual brilliance touched down for the third.

France piled up the pressure in the late stages of the match and Joanna Grisez scored from an individual effort and also converted to keep their hopes alive.

With the restart, France managed to win a penalty but a long pass out-wide to an attacking player was spilled and went out of play, seeing Fiji cling on to book their second final against Australia.

The final will be played at 2.56am.
