2022 DPL to kick off on Feb 13th

The 2022 Digicel Premier League which was scheduled to kick off on the 12 and 13 of February has been delayed to a week late.

2022 DPL will now kick off on the 12 and 13 of February, confirms Fiji Football Association competitions manager Amitesh Pal.

Pal said districts requested for more time frame to prepare for the new season considering the training restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The delay has no effect on our annual football calendar. So we gave another week just so that districts and players are well prepared for the new season."

"This will help the players and officials moving from one club to another to settle down well with the team."

"It will also give an opportunity to Nasinu to prepare for the upcoming season."

"We hope that our northern team Labasa is also able to play in DPL given that restrictions are eased by the government."

"Fiji FA is working on plans to get Labasa football team in Viti Levu where they will play most of their games."

"The fixtures will be up soon. Each team will play a home and away match."
