Fiji Rugby Union chief executive John O’Connor has confirmed that the Fijiana 7s team will not participate in the Seville 7s in Spain next week.
O'Connor said due to the huge number of COVID-19 cases in the women’s team, they will miss the second leg of Spain 7s.
He said the Fiji 7s men's team could participate in the tournament next week depending on the second test results.
"Fijiana will not be able to travel due to the cases where players were tested positive. We can’t risk them and the players are in quarantine."
"For now we are just waiting for the results of the men's team. Based on their results, then we can only see if the players can travel for the tournament or not."
"The main priority is their health and safety which we don’t want to risk. So as we get the results then only we can decide if the players will take part or not. We just have to patiently wait for the results."
Meanwhile, the Malaga 7s will kick off tomorrow in Spain.
